Hassan Whiteside won’t return to his team’s game against the Toronto Raptors after aggravating a knee injury he suffered earlier in the series. The Miami Heat’s options at center are limited beyond the long-limbed shot-blocking maven; Amar’e Stoudemire is a defensive sieve, and Udonis Haslem is both too small to consistently stop Jonas Valanciunas on the block and lacks any offensive punch whatsoever.
So how did Erik Spoelstra respond? By inserting seldom-used Josh McRoberts into the game after Haslem gave Miami some typically gritty minutes in Whiteside’s absence. McRoberts, needless to say, will see a lot more court time with the Heat’s starter out – especially if he continues making plays like this.
