Kenyon Martin Is Already Talking Trash To Charles Oakley During The Lead Up To The BIG3

The inaugural BIG3 season will not officially get underway for more than a month. Still, there is plenty of intrigue before the first basketball hits the floor in the league and trash talk is a big part of what fans can expect from the participants. On Tuesday, the public got a little bit of a glimpse of that, with Kenyon Martin and Charles Oakley going back and forth in front of an open mic.

Martin repeatedly insisting that Oakley should “put (his) money where (his) mouth is” brings immediate entertainment, as does the notion that Oakley is ready to roll immediately. While Martin is still a relatively spry 39 years old and was in the NBA only two years ago, Oakley has been retired since 2004 and is already 53 years of age. In the same breath, it takes a very brave soul to challenge Charles Oakley in any way and that extends to the basketball court.

Many players, including the incomparable Ricky Davis, are very excited for the action to get underway and, in this instance, neither Martin nor Oakley appeared to want to wait for the official start of the campaign. Frankly, it would be unwise for anyone to fool around with either veteran NBA power forward on or off the court but this seemed light-hearted and served as another teaser for what we can expect on June 25.
