When Kevin Durant makes the Basketball Hall of Fame some day, his résumé will include the fact that he won his first ring as a member of the Golden State Warriors in 2017. This is something that no one can ever take away from him. To many, his ring is “tainted” or something because of the fact that he had to form a superteam to get it, but Durant probably doesn’t care, largely because he doesn’t consider Golden State a superteam.
Still, there are a lot of people who give Durant crap for joining the Warriors in an attempt to get a ring. Usually Durant lets these criticisms from random people on Twitter go unanswered, but dude was in celebration mode on Thursday during Golden State’s championship parade, so he decided to fire back.
First up there was this person who asked if Durant would have joined the Cavs if they won a ring, referencing the fact that he joined the Warriors after they knocked his Oklahoma City Thunder out of the postseason the year before.

Durant has probably heard/read this one a ton over the last few months. On Thursday, he finally got the chance to respond.
we didn't lose though 😂😂😂😂

Someone else tried to come at Durant by referencing an old tweet of his about joining up with superteams. For reference, here is Durant’s tweet from 2010.
Now everybody wanna play for the heat and the Lakers? Let's go back to being competitive and going at these peoples!

And here is what was tweeted at him on Thursday.
Now everybody wanna play for the heat and the Lakers? Let's go back to being competitive and going at these peoples!

Durant must have expected that he was going to get something like this, because he fired right back at this person and explained that this concept is exactly why he joined Golden State.
yea that's why I play for the warriors now lol

Durant’s Twitter account has some gems on it from way back in the day, and after he joined the Warriors, everyone retweeted that tweet about being competitive. Apparently, seeing that on his notifications page gave him plenty of chances to craft a response, one that we saw on Thursday.
