It’s been three months since Lamar Odom collapsed in a Nevada brothel and was left fighting for his life. The most recent news about Odom’s recovery has been positive, as a photo of him put up on Instagram by his son had the former NBA All-Star looking healthy. Then came word he was secretly discharged from the hospital where he was staying just last week.

Now, more good news. According to the Associated Press, he will not face any drug-related charges stemming from the incident in Nevada. This despite the fact the sheriff’s office originally recommended that Odom be charged with cocaine possession.

Odom did have traces of cocaine found in his system. However, Nye County District Attorney Angela Bello said in a statement that it was “”unlikely it could (be) established beyond a reasonable doubt he actually ingested, or was impaired by, the drug during the time he was within the jurisdiction of Nye County.”

Bello said the drugs found in Odom’s system had already metabolized by the time they were discovered, making it difficult to determine when exactly he had taken them.

Odom obviously still has a long way to go, but a lack of potential charges looming over him will certainly help him focus on his recovery.
