Shaq’s son Shareef O’Neal is definitely starting to make a name for himself, and all that attention is something his father is more than a little ambivalent about. But it was inevitable, and not just by virtue of being the Big Diesel’s progeny. Already 6-foot-8 at the age of 16, Shareef is currently the 18th-ranked player in the class of 2018, according to ESPN, and has received multiple scholarship offers from Division I programs.
And like his father, he’s also pretty media savvy. He’s popped up in a couple of viral videos lately, one showing him dunking on his dad to learn how to absorb the contact, and one dunking all over the decidedly smaller in stature Jaxon Williams, son of flashy point guard Jason Williams.
In this latest video, Shareef squared off against the son of yet another former NBA star. At the Ron Massey Classic in Los Angeles over the weekend, Shareef went head-to-head with Ron Artest III, offspring of Metta World Peace, who also happened to be in attendance. While Shareef’s game doesn’t bare much resemblance to his father’s (Shaq has said previously he hopes he’ll emulate Anthony Davis), Artest is just about a dead ringer for his dad on the court.
