Since arriving in Memphis, Zach Randolph has subsisted on a strict diet of baby back ribs washed down with pitchers of light beer. But a man’s gotta have a cheat day every now and then, in which case Z-Bo apparently likes to treat himself to local Memphis chain Jet’s Pizza.
In this new spot posted by the Grizzlies’ Twitter account, Randolph channels SNL legend Jack Handey to ponder some deep (dish) Heideggerian questions regarding the nature of being and humankind’s place in the universe.
NBA players making awkward appearances in low-budget hometown commercials is one of the greatest things that ever happened to the league, and the Grizzlies, in particular, continue to stake their rightful claim in the local advertising hall of fame.
They’ll resume their other favorite pastime Wednesday at the Grindhouse, i.e. beating up on the depleted Portland Trailblazers in their opening round playoff series, a team that confoundingly has something specifically against losing to Spanish-born players.
