Last week, a number of outlets picked up Mark Wahlberg’s petition to have his 1988 criminal conviction, in which he attacked a Vietnamese man with a stick while trying to steal a case of beer, pardoned by the Massachusetts governor’s office. In the petition, the former leader of the Funky Bunch stated that he was trying to get his record expunged in order to get his concessionaire’s license in California “an important consideration given my personal involvement in various restaurant ventures.”
But now, TMZ reports that there maybe have been another reason – he wants to join the LA police reserves, possibly as part of a new reality show he’s pitching.
Mark is still a felon, and he wants to join a L.A. area police force as a reservist. The problem … he’s not eligible because felons can’t handle guns and it’s generally frowned upon in cop shops.
We’re told Mark has become interested in police work as a result of researching roles for movies, including “The Other Guys,” “Max Payne” and “The Departed.”
Mark is selling a new reality show called “Port of L.A.” in which law enforcement police the containers that come into the country. [TMZ]
My God, could this request have been timed any more perfectly?
“Excuse me theah, Mistah Govunah. I know yoah in the middle of dealing with mass protests ovah police brutality against minawrities, but me an’ my producahs was just wondrin if you could expunge my reckid of racially-motivated assaults so I could please join the police fawce.”
I’m guessing this pardon is probably not going to happen. But his request did say he goes to church almost every day, so… maybe an honorary doctorate in theology as a consolation prize?
