There were actually several beach cruiser bicycles used in the filming of the 1985 Tim Burton classic Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, but as the titular hero stressed throughout the movie, his bike was simply one of a kind. If you’re the kind of movie fan and nostalgia buff that can appreciate Francis Buxton’s desire to have everything that he wants, including Pee Wee’s amazing bike, you’re in luck, because one of the actual beach cruisers from the movie is now available for sale on eBay. The only catch is that it’s just a wee bit more expensive than the $10,000 reward that Pee Wee was originally offering for its return. I guess that’s because of inflation.
With less than 9 hours remaining on the eBay auction, the bike’s price is currently at $25,602, but the bonus here is that you get free shipping on it. The drawback is that the bike will be shipped to you in pieces, so you’d better be prepared to put it back together so you can ride it around the neighborhood and show off to all of the other kids. As for your question of whether or not it’s legit, the seller is offering the following…
Its in pieces now, but everything is there.
Comes with an autographed photo of Paul Ruebens, a photo of him signing the photo, letter/certificate of authenticity, warner bro plans/spec sheet on the red cargo boxes. I am the third owner. I bought it in 2010 for $10,000. Selling because my family is getting larger.
Hey, a guy’s got to feed the kids, I get it, but this is the kind of bike that you pass down for generations. Anyway, I think that a fun idea for a new take on Pee Wee’s Big Adventure would be for the winning bidder to let me know where the bike is so I can steal it, but then he never comes looking for it and just lets me keep it. Thanks in advance.
Damn it, I love this f*cking movie. Even if Large Marge did terrify me as a child.
