The Sony Pictures remake of RoboCop, directed by José Padilha, is currently registering a 50% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is probably pretty surprising news. It’s not that it looks that bad, but it’s just another cheesy remake of an already cheesy 80s action film, all for the sake of capitalizing on nostalgia, and critics don’t usually take very kindly to that. Of course, there are only a dozen reviews in thus far, so this score could plummet within the next five days, before RoboCop opens on a Wednesday in February.
It is not, however, the only RoboCop remake that is being released this year. Unbeknownst to most people, a group of 50 amateur and professional filmmakers has been working hard on Our RoboCop Remake, which they describe as a “scene-for-scene retelling” of the 1987 Paul Verhoeven film. So why on Earth would they make this version and release it a week before Sony’s cash cow? “Because if anyone is going to ruin RoboCop, it’s us.”
You can watch their entire RoboCop remake online right now, but I wanted to specifically showcase “Scene 27,” which was created by the evil geniuses at Fatal Farm. Now, when you read the headline to this post and I say that there’s “A LOT of penis shooting,” I mean that there is A LOT OF PENIS SHOOTING. And hoo boy, is it graphic. We’re talking very authentic prosthetic penises being shot to hell, and I laughed so hard that I have heart burn now. But please understand that this video is NSFW. Very NSFW.
