I’ve always thought that a really fun movie for Jack Nicholson to make – as opposed to anything that shows Kathy Bates’ breasts – would be a comedy about his real life superfan allegiance to the Los Angeles Lakers, in which he plays himself caught up in some strange adventure when his zany antics go too far. After all, Jack doesn’t do much these days, so a lot of us have to rely on his trademark evil glares and wicked smiles coming after Dwight Howard’s free throws cost the Lakers wins.
Nicholson’s fanfare over the years is one of the things that made being a Lakers fan such a huge fad for other celebrities in L.A. – like Ashton Kutcher, Justin Bieber, Adam Sandler, etc. – so he probably has tons of stories about run-ins with other celebrity fans and people who have generally pissed him off. I mean, being a Lakers fan is Jack’s thing and those courtside seats are run by him.
For example, Maria Menounos was a guest on Conan the other night, and she told her fellow Boston Celtics fan, Conan O’Brien, all about how she and Dane Cook were sitting courtside at a Lakers-Celtics game this season, sporting their Boston jerseys with pride. Lo and behold, some Staples Center staffers escorted them from their seats for no good reason, other than they were wearing the wrong team’s colors.
And because Jack Nicholson wasn’t having that sh-t.
“I get booted!” Menounos said. “These guys come and pull us out of courtside. I’m like, ‘What is going on?’ … I’m like hiding out of this hallway, and all of a sudden Jack Nicholson comes out of the bathroom, and he’s like, ‘Hee hee hee’ … He got me kicked out! I heard later he called [LA Lakers owner] Jerry Buss and he had me removed!” [HuffPo]
I reached out to Nicholson to see if he had a response, and all I got was this wonderful GIF…
