Reps for Kate Winslet recently confirmed that the 37-year-old actress is pregnant with her third child with her third husband, and more importantly, I thought this was a good opportunity to point out that Kate Winslet is currently married to a guy named NED ROCKNROLL. He’s actually a nephew of Richard Branson born “Abel Smith,” and while the 34-year-old looks more like a Pete Mouthbreather to me, his job title is almost as awesome as his name:
Ned works for his uncle’s space travel company Virgin Galactic and holds the title of Head of Marketing Promotion and Astronaut Experience.
“Hi, my name’s Rocknroll and I work for Virgin Galactic promoting astronauts.” I admit, it’s a strong pitch, especially with a fancy British accent. “Oh, what’s that? You’ve never played space polo before? You absolutely must come, my family owns a shuttle.”
So how’d they meet? Well, back in 2011, when Ned was still married to a 23-year-old daughter of a multi-millionaire viscount and Kate Winslet was dating a model, they were vacationing near each other on Necker Island, a private island in the Caribbean owned by Richard Branson. That’s when a fire broke out, and Kate Winslet ended up saving Richard Branson’s 90-year-old mother from the flames. Why, it’s a love story as old as time. A six-time Oscar-nominated actress saves an astronaut promoter named Rocknroll’s great aunt from a fire while vacationing on a private island. You see, celebrities really are just like us.
