Paul Rudd is set to star in an upcoming comedy, My Brother is an Idiot, from director Jesse Peretz, the original bassist for The Lemonheads and a director on Important Things with Dmitri Martin. Here’s an important thing: if you don’t like Paul Rudd, I will fight you.
Rudd will play an idealist trying to cope with his overbearing mother, who crashes into the homes of his three ambitious sisters and brings, in succession, truth, happiness and a sunny disposition into their lives while also wreaking havoc.
“Everyone on Earth who has a brother has an idiot brother,” Bregman said. “I come from a family of three brothers, so I know that better than anyone. And what could beat the prospect of working with Jesse and Paul, who are like brothers to each other, to bring that message out into the world?” [AP]
I’m just not sure Paul Rudd’s right for the part. I don’t have any brothers, but Paul Rudd doesn’t seem as much like an idiot brother as he does the best brother ever. We could hang out, singing songs and making peanut butter sandwiches, then he’d pull me along in a red wagon to our tree house, where we’d make paper hats and wave our wooden swords and shout at girls. …Seriously, that’s what it’s like, isn’t it, having a brother? Oh God, I’m so lonely.
