The Hollywood Reporter shared this video of J.J. Abrams standing next to a life-size (and I’m assuming fully operational) X-Wing Starfighter in an attempt to spread the word about the “Star Wars: Force for Change” contest, which is entering its final week. Normally, I despise people using my love of Sci-Fi to trick me into watching a commercial, but in this case I feel somewhat less enraged because it’s for a good cause.
The “Force for Change” initiative raises funds and awareness for UNICEF Innovation Labs and programs that benefit the world’s most vulnerable children.
I’m pretty sure we can all get behind those causes. Who doesn’t love vulnerable children? I… should probably reword that a little bit. What I’m trying to say is who wouldn’t want to pay money to get behind vulnerable children. But for those of you who hate UNICEF and children, but love Star Wars, there is another incentive to donate: the bomb-ass prizes.
The charity campaign, which is organized through the Omaze fundraising platform, will fly one winner and a guest to the Star Wars: Episode VII set in London to meet the cast and get a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film. The winner will then be transformed into a Star Wars character and appear in the movie.
Not only that, but now the contest includes a chance for donors to win an advance private screening of the movie. Can you imagine seeing ‘Episode VII’ without having to camp out in front of your local AMC for a week in order to do so? What a treat. Also, you’d have spoiler leverage over 99% of the world’s population. You could hold the entire world at ransom. World leaders, governments, and entire populations would fall to their knees to serve you under the persistent threat of you ruining the most anticipated sequel of the last 30 years. Can you imagine the power?!?
The contest goes from now through 11:59 p.m. this Friday. Enter this contest immediately to win the chance to feel like this dude:
