Baby Showers have always seemed slightly terrifying to me, and now they’re set to become even more horrific, thanks to upcoming sci-fi horror-comedy, The Shower.
The Shower, which is set to star Anne Hathaway, is being described as This is the End or Attack the Block meets Bridesmaids. Hey, we already know killer monsters and dick jokes are a good mix, so it’s about time somebody tried monsters and vagina jokes together. The movie begins with Hathaway at her baby shower, but unfortunately the party is broken up by a volley of mysterious meteors that transform anything male into a bloodthirsty mutant alien. So, obviously Hathaway has to put the party games aside, kick some hideously mutated dude ass and get to the bottom of what’s happening.
The Shower is being produced by Hathaway and her husband, and will be written and directed by Jac Schaeffer, who previously directed the sci-fi romantic comedy Timer. Schaeffer’s script was on last year’s Black List, which isn’t always a guarantee of quality, but it’s certainly a point in the movie’s favor.
Personally, I think The Shower has a pretty solid premise. I’m just worried about Hathaway in the lead, as I’ve found most of her attempts at comedy, particularly the more edgy stuff, a bit cringeworthy. What do you folks think? Ready for Anne Hathaway killing aliens in a baby shower bow crown?
