I missed this trailer for A Single Shot when it first came out, but it just played Tribeca a couple days ago, and you know what? It looks pretty good. Written by Matthew F. Jones, adapting his own novel, it’s directed by David M. Rosenthal. I don’t know who either of those people are or what the trailer is trying to say that it’s about, but a couple factors lead me to believe it might be enjoyable:
William H. Macy in a bad suit:
Angry disheveled Sam Rockwell:
Sam Rockwell is infinitely likable, like a homeless Paul Rudd, so I don’t know what else you’d need to know about this film (which also stars Melissa Leo and Jeffrey Wright) in order to make a decision. But just in case, here’s the rundown:
Based on the book by Matthew F. Jones, the story follows Rockwell’s John Moon, a hunter who accidentally shoots a teenage girl and then discovers a small fortune while trying to dispose of her body. But he’s soon on the run from killers looking to retrieve their money, and he’s forced to defend his life and his family. [ThePlaylist]
I wish Sam Rockwell would’ve played John Moon in Moon.
