Suicide Squad just broke records for an August opening, so we can expect to continue hearing those rumors about an R-rated sequel, questionable spin-offs for Joker and Captain Boomerang, and a more plausible Harley Quinn spin-off produced by and starring Margot Robbie. But are the stars interested in making more of these movies? Well, hmmm, do people like money?
Comic Book posed the question about sequels to Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) and Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), who, not surprisingly, would like to continue working. Courtney implied that everyone signed for “a few movies,” while Robbie had an exciting answer when asked how long she’d like to play her vexing Harley Quinn.
“I hope forever. I really, I could play Harley for a long time. I don’t know how long. We’ve signed on, I mean I think everyone’s committed to a couple of films. […] There’s so much you can do. They’re the sort of characters that you could keep exploring and find so many more, so much more to do.”
Margot Robbie being a major stand-out as Harley Quinn seems to be one thing critics can agree on (although Jared Leto seems to still think he was the star). The co-creator of the character even said Robbie “nailed it” as Quinn. And, hey, she already stole the jacket and baseball bat from the set, so she could show up in wardrobe already. That saves time. So what’d’ya say, Warner?
