April 6 is Poe Dameron Day, according to Marvel. Today is the day the excellent first issue of “Star Wars: Poe Dameron” hits news stands, and Marvel is coordinating with comic book stores to offer all sorts of Star Wars: The Force Awakens swag centered on the suave Rebel pilot played by Oscar Isaac, a man so charismatic he can convince J.J. Abrams to change his character’s fate for the better just by making an offhand complaint.
Participating stores are going to have a party kit containing:
- Star Wars: Poe Dameron #1 Invitational Postcards
- Star Wars: Poe Dameron #1 Promotional Pins
- Star Wars: Poe Dameron #1 BB-8 Lithographs by Joe Quinones
- Star Wars: Poe Dameron #1 variant covers
- And other items at select locations
The full press release is here, but we have something more important than cake toppers and BB-8 pinbacks to discuss. It wouldn’t be a Poe Dameron Day without an acknowledgement of how entertaining Oscar Isaac is. When he’s not being a hell of a pilot in a vest that says “Pull to inflate” — and not “I brake for cute Stormtroopers” as we suspected — Isaac is dancing his way into our hearts.
What better way to celebrate this newly made up consumer holiday than with 25 GIFs of Oscar Isaac dancing? That guy’s one hell of a dancer.
Everybody, dude, it’s Poe Dameron Day.
