Deadpool opens Friday (review here), so Ryan Reynolds has been doing plenty of interviews about the mutant mercenary and aspiring professional athlete. Two of those interviews caught our attention, in part because he talks about his, uh, parts in one of them. Specifically, he talks about his fully nude fight scene with Ajax (Ed Skrein) taking place in a burning building in the movie and likens his junk to “a small haiku written in braille.”
PROVE IT. Er, sorry, what I meant to say was, the interview was very funny. Yeah. Besides crediting Viggo Mortensen’s fight scene in Eastern Promises for inspiration (“If a guy is willing to fight you totally naked, that guy’s nuts.”), he also joked about this not being his first rodeo. “I’m the youngest of four boys, so it’s not the first time I’ve fought another man naked in a burning building.”
Ah, so that’s where part of the “graphic nudity” in Deadpool‘s R-rating comes from. China will be missing out on Ryan Reynolds’ junk, and this makes us wonder if that “more raw” director’s cut will be just, like, two hours of helicoptering (it won’t). As for the nude scene, BuzzFeed asked Reynolds if it was really him. It was, but he joked, “The front — I don’t know which Olsen twin, but it was one of them.” He then explained how that awkward day of filming went:
“There was a lot of me there,” he admitted of going full-frontal. “There’s nothing else you can do except to just sorta grin, bear it, and go, ‘All right guys, we’re all going to get to really know each other today. I may be sitting on this man’s face at some point, he may be sitting on mine.’ It was ugly but necessary.” (Via)
Lest you think we’re here just to talk about Ryan Reynolds’ nude body all day (I could, you know), he also revealed something else we want to see during an interview with Filmstarts. “In the future, I think, if we’re doing a bunch more Deadpool movies, we’re going to really explore the X-Men a lot, and maybe X-Force. X-Force is really my priority. I really want to get that in.”
There were already rumors of an X-Force movie with a lineup including Deadpool and Psylocke (Olivia Munn), which were further fueled last weekend by a video of Reynolds and Munn play fighting. And now he’s referring to X-Force as a priority. We hope he gets that in.
