When The Flash brought on Australian actor Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West for the second season, fans and critics alike were left wondering whether his character would inherit Barry Allen’s (Grant Gustin) gifts. After all, per his arcs as “Kid Flash” and “The New Flash” during the Crisis on Infinite Earths saga, Wally did become a version of the Scarlet Speedster for a time. Yet this outcome never really came to be during the popular CW series’ second season. As for the upcoming third season, however, it seems Wally will finally get his chance to best Allen’s top speeds — thanks in part to the latter’s actions in the season two finale.
According to a new image released by the network, Lonsdale will be sporting a new costume as Kid Flash in The Flash‘s third season premiere, “Flashpoint.” The episode will air Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
Aside from the photo, no other details were given about the extent of Lonsdale’s involvement in the new season or what Wally’s arc as Kid Flash will mean for the series. Barry did kinda sorta screw around with time in a big way at the end of “The Race of His Life,” so it’s a good bet Wally’s newfound powers are a direct result of the titular hero’s latest time-traveling escapades. Besides, with Harry Potter‘s own Tom Felton to kick around as a new series regular, season three is bound to be full of more surprises.
