Don’t call that good marijuana you’re smoking broccoli anymore. Call it spinach, watermelon, cantaloupe or anything else, that’s according to Kodak Black after claims “square n****s” stole his slang for weed and ran with it.
The Florida trapper rapper recently posted videos to Instagram indirectly calling out the makers of the hit song “Broccoli,” D.R.A.M. and Lil Yachty. In the initial message, he has the track playing in the background before he cuts it off to address the camera. “Who these little n****s chopping my swag, man?” he says. “Talkin’ about broccoli, man. Look, from now on, I don’t smoke broccoli. I smoke cantaloupe since you square ass n*****s trying to steal my little swag.”
In a second video, he decides to prohibit others from using the term. “You niggas can’t say broccoli no more,” he said. “You n****s gotta say spinach or some shit. You n****s don’t smoke broccoli, y’all smoke spinach.”

To his credit, Kodak appears to have first used the slang on one of his standout track, “No Flockin,” on which he raps, “Told the doctor I’m a healthy kid, I smoke broccoli.” But, it’s a bit odd that he would just now decide to speak out against “Broccoli” considering it’s been out since at least April and gone double platinum courtesy of a slew of radio play.
Maybe Kodak is only speaking towards “square ass n****s” in general but everyone took the remarks as a slight towards the other two artists. Yachty did not waste time in responding to it all. He took to his own Instagram account to share a video in which he shows respect to Kodak while sticking up for himself at the same time.
“First off, any time before I perform this song I say ‘Shouts out to that n**** Kodak,'” he said and quoted Kodak’s lyrics from “No Flockin.” Second off, I don’t even smoke broccoli. I don’t even give a f*ck about weed. I ain’t never been no square ass n****. I showed all my respect but I ain’t never been no square ass n****.”

Lil Yachty’s had his share of drama in recent months so let’s hope this small dust-up can either end right here or can be settled with a quick phone call.
