Yasiin Bey, aka Mos Def, has always been capable of making great music and continues to show that ability on the BADBADNOTGOOD assisted “Arcade.” The song comes courtesy of a recent live performance, where Bey croons over the Lord Tusk-produced track. It’s sure to make any fan of his long for the days where the Brooklyn emcee created crooning classics like “Umi Says” and “Climb.” Since those days are long gone, “Arcade” is just another reminder of the greatness regarding the artist formerly known as Mos Def.
Yasiin retired from rap earlier this year, but has since released a couple songs. He most recently dropped “Dec. 99th” on May 5th and “Tall Sleeves” on May 23rd. It’s unlikely that there’s an album in the works, but the artist formerly known as Mos Def does what he wants, whenever he wants. Therefore, it’s anyone’s guess if this is just a one-off or in support of a yet unknown project.
