If you’re reading this, you may be among the millions of otherwise level-headed individuals who are convinced that the “Twilight” series is one of the greatest achievements in the history of cinema. Enter the Razzie nominating committee, who are here to tell you that you’re wrong.
“Breaking Dawn – Part 2,” the final installment in the ‘tween-fueled supernatural franchise, has topped all other films by scoring a total of 11 Razzie nominations this year, including Worst Picture of 2012. Coming in a close second with 9 nominations is Adam Sandler’s “That’s My Boy,” while Peter Berg’s flop board-game adaptation “Battleship” surfaced with a total of 7.
Among individuals, Tyler Perry was by far the top nominee, with a total of four nods in multiple categories including Worst Director (for the one-two punch of “Good Deeds” and “Madea’s Witness Protection”), Worst Actress (“Madea’s Witness Protection”), Worst Actor (for both “Good Deeds” and “Alex Cross”) and Worst Screen Couple (the “couple” being “Tyler Perry and his drag” in “Madea’s Witness Protection”). Perhaps the Atlanta-based empire-builder can wipe away his tears with the hundreds of millions of dollars he has sitting in his bank account.
In addition to Perry, other individuals singled out for disdain include “Twilight” lovebirds Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, who in addition to their solo acting nominations (Stewart actually received a double nod for Worst Actress for both “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” and “Snow White and the Huntsman”) are also up for Worst Screen Couple of the year.
After checking out the full list of nominees (as well as a really lame announcement video) below, weigh in with your own “Worst of” picks in the comments.
