To say the latest tease of Steve Carell and Channing Tatum’s film Foxcatcher is disturbing would be an understatement. The trailer is set to the beat of military drums and features an unrecognizable Carell as delusional multi-millionaire John du Pont. The movie is based on the true story of du Pont, his Olympic wrestling protegé Mark Schultz (Tatum) and his descent into madness which culminated with the death of another of his prized fighters, David Schultz’s.
The newest clip features shots of a buff and scowling Tatum being taken under Carell’s wing, a few glimpses of Mark Ruffalo as David Schultz, and Carell’s voice narrating the action, claiming to be “giving America hope.” The whole thing looks a bit grim and depressing but it’s a definite Oscar contender this year.
