The first full length trailer for The Martian hit the web last week and already has over 8-million views. With such a strong showing, 20th Century Fox has made the executive decision to move the release date for Ridley Scott’s new space flick up a month. Originally, the Matt Damon-starring film was set to hit theaters on Thanksgiving but according to Deadline, the movie — based on Andy Weir’s fantastic debut novel — will have its theatrical premiere on October 2nd.
Taking The Martian‘s place on the original Thanksgiving release date is Fox’s Victor Frankenstein, which stars James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe. While it may not make sense to have a movie based on Mary Shelley’s classic novel scheduled to hit theaters almost a month after Halloween, the plot to the film allegedly follows the relationship between Dr. Frankenstein and Igor, with very little Frankenstein monster to be seen. I guess that’s why Fox has moved it from January to October and now to November.
But hey, at least The Martian looks good!
