In the fourth TV spot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we get a chance to see Kylo Ren perform a little sword work with his memorable hilted blade that drove everybody bonkers in the initial teaser trailer. There’s plenty of peril mixed in with the things we’ve already seen, but the theme is pretty obvious: the past is back to haunt the heroes in a galaxy far, far away.
If anything, seeing how Kylo can move and isn’t relegated to the Darth Vader style should be comforting to fans. There’s enough there to harken back to Vader’s presence — from Ren’s mask to his position within the First Order — but still carries enough of the new style to exist as different. Also the simplicity should allow for some nice background, especially when that mask comes off and we dive into who he really is.
There’s also all the awesome stuff from the other trailers. Just release the movie. Get it out there. No need to wait or release more trailers for us all to stitch together into some film abomination. It could be worse, like Attack of the Clones, but still, just put out the movie.
