It had looked like Edina and Patsy of Absolutely Fabulous had smoked their last cigarettes and swilled their last cocktails after their limited series return in 2011, but it appears that they will be back to behave badly once again in a feature film.
Principal photography for Ab Fab began in the south of France yesterday, so it looks like co-creators and stars Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders will get to raise some hell on the Riviera. That seems like the perfect place for this stylish twosome to chase their youth, perfect their bitchy zingers, pop pills, and drink until they black out.
Thanks to Amy Schumer and the ladies of Broad City, hilariously vulgar women are in vogue once again, so this is the ideal time for these boozy ladies to return to the social landscape. Honestly, we never would have had Abby and Ilana without the influence of Edina and Patsy, who practically turned vice into an art form.
According to IMDb, Julia Sawalha’s Saffron and Jane Horrocks’ Bubble (UGH) are both set to return, and there is an interesting lineup of guest stars, including Dawn French, Kate Moss, Baby Spice, Glee‘s Chris Colfer, and Kim Kardashian West.
