Alexandra Daddario made more of an impression in a single scene in True Detective season one than Vince Vaughn (and Rachel McAdams, and Taylor Kitsch, and STAN) did in all of season two. I’m pretty sure Woody Harrelson still hasn’t recovered — no wonder he wore pajamas to the Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 premiere. Since then, she’s had a supporting role in The Rock-saves-the-world-from-earthquakes disaster film San Andreas, and will soon star in the road trip sex comedy The Layover with Kate Upton.
Deadline reports that Daddario is also in the running for the female lead in the Baywatch movie, starring The Rock (they’re a regular Bogie and Bacall) and Zac Efron. Along with basically every other young actress in Hollywood.
It already set Seth Gordon to direct and Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron to play the male leads. Now, they’ve set a short list of actresses who will test for the female lead. Here are the names I hear: Alexandra Daddario (San Andreas, Percy Jackson), Ashley Benson (Pretty Little Liars, Elvis & Nixon), Nina Dobrev (Vampire Diaries), Alexandra Shipp (Straight Outta Compton, X-Men Apocalypse), Shelley Hennig (Teen Wolf), Bianca Santos (The Duff), and Denyse Tontz (Big Time Rush). We’ve been hearing about the Baywatch movie since 2010, so until the day I’m watching a glistening Rock and a glimmering Daddario running down a beach in slow-motion on the big screen, I refuse to accept it’s actually going to happen. I can’t open myself up to such heartbreak.
