The guest-directed couch gags are too often the best thing about recent Simpsons episodes. Last season’s “Mathlete’s Feat” began wonderfully with Rick and Morty crash-landing on America’s favorite family, and ended with some nonsense about a jug band.
The show’s been on for 26 seasons and counting — let Banksy or Don Hertzfeldt direct an entire episode, or, better yet, stretch out “Bartkira the Animated Trailer,” a bonkers mashup of The Simpsons and the legendary Japanese animated film Akira, for 22 minutes.
There’s your answer, fishbulb, for the one thing The Simpsons hasn’t done.
