Batman V Superman‘s release has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean that the internet is done discussing it. Director Zack Snyder hasn’t done himself any favors as he’s explained new details regarding beloved characters that met untimely deaths, especially regarding Robin. Specifically the “fun backstory there to play with” offscreen demise of Robin. Snyder’s vision of Batman is a dark one, so it makes sense within the narrative to have Robin be similarly dark.
However, some new information has been revealed about the Boy Wonder that adds a whole new dimension that will seem out of place for many fans. What was previously thought to be some sort of quarter staff or billy club on steroids clutched in the hands of Robin’s suit is actually a wicked looking pike. Digital Spy provided some images from the new Batman V Superman — Tech Manual, commenting:
In a world where Batman has guns mounted on everything and kills without blinking, of course Robin would be carrying around a crazy axe/halberd weapon to slice and dice crime on the streets of Gotham.
Yikes. Whatever you think about Snyder’s vision of a Batman who kills, this is certainly a grim detail about his historically plucky sidekick.
