We still have to get through Justice League before the time comes for Ben Affleck’s solo Batman outing (mercy), but there’s already a hard-charging campaign afoot for his sidekick, Robin.
Actor Ryan Potter, known best for his voice work in Big Hero 6 and his martial arts nastiness in Nickelodeon’s Super Ninjas, put together a reel meant to show Bat-fleck himself exactly who he should cast. In the video, after showing us his sublime-looking fighting skills, Potter sits down in front of the camera and address Affleck directly, saying, ““Hey Ben, like Tim said, Batman needs a Robin.”
Potter even tweeted at Affleck expressing his interest in playing Robin, Tim Drake to be specific and has been on the Batman train for some time now.
“That would be super cool to be able to play that. To see a different version – see an Asian American Robin. Why not? Or maybe in a couple of years see a Nighthawk. But I don’t know. There really aren’t a lot of real Asian superheroes,” Potter told 411Mania while promoting the video release of Big Hero 6 last year.
Even though we’re not likely to see the next Batman movie until at least 2018, it’s already made some casting news, with DC Comics announcing Magic Mike’s Joe Manganiello as villain Deathstroke last week. So why not cast Robin now too? Potter is 100 percent in.
Tim Drake has a real nice ring to it.
