Bette Midler Reveals Why The ‘Hocus Pocus’ Sequel Is Delayed: No Virgins!

While we have yet to receive official word that a sequel to 1993’s cult Halloween classic (yes, classic) Hocus Pocus is underway, one of the movie’s stars Bette Midler is not letting it go quite so easily. She has expressed interest in the recent past that she’d be down for another Sanderson sister reunion. Even better, so are the other Sanderson sisters Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker! For a while, it looked like Tina Fey was attached to a continuation of the story, but Disney put the kibosh on that.

There’s a big demand for this, so what’s the hold-up? Midler says it’s virgins. There aren’t any. And if you’ll recall, virgins are essential to the Hocus Pocus storyline, even though it’s kind of a kid’s movie and it might be the tiniest bit awkward to explain to them what being a virgin entails. (Though a generation of informed, sex-positive people isn’t the worst idea… but that’s another story.)

The especially umbrage-taking internet might interpret this kind of tweet as a bit slut-shamey, considering the edgy post-Disney careers of ladies like Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, and Selena Gomez. But whatever, sistahs. Imagine that trio having a Disney reunion and in Salem for some supernatural action and then running into the Sanderson sisters. That would be amazing.
