The most eventful thing about this year’s Golden Globes wasn’t any particular moment, but the variety of TV shows that took home awards. Transparent, Fargo, Jane the Virgin, The Honorable Woman — all first-time winners. There was no “Oscars selfie,” something that broke the Internet more than Kim Kardashian’s dumpster. But there almost was.
Bill Murray had planned to prank George Clooney by rushing the stage as the Gravity star was being honored at the Golden Globes, sources tell Page Six. (Via)
He planned to “pull a Kanye,” and run onstage while Julianna Margulies and Don Cheadle were gushing about the time they went to Chipotle and George paid for their excessively-pricey guacamole, or something. But a moment of indecision robbed us of something truly memorable: a famous person interrupting other famous people in front of more famous people.
But a source tells us Murray decided against making a scene after Clooney ruled against it. One Hollywood insider said, “I wish it had happened, it might have made the show more interesting.” (Via)
Ya burnt, Golden Globes. What do you think Murray was going to do? Expose Clooney as the hideous orphan-kicking, golf-hating, money-burning monster he actually is? Probably.
