Are you feeling down now that the Jared Leto Joker news cycle is starting to wind down? Upset you’re no longer getting a steady stream of stories about Leto’s edgy chicanery on the set of Suicide Squad? Well, worry not, because Leto has lined up another gritty blockbuster for 2017.
According to Variety, Leto is setting off to the future, as he’s signed on for a role in the currently-untitled Blade Runner sequel coming from Alcon Entertainment. No information has been revealed about Leto’s character, but come on, he has to be a replicant, right? That would be the more twisted option. Will Leto insist the crew administer legit Voight-Kampff tests on him daily? Absolutely. Will he send everybody letters made up of nothing but ones and zeroes? I certainly hope so. Harrison Ford is going to kick his ass before the first week is up.
In addition to Harrison Ford and Leto, the new Alcon Entertainment produced Blade Runner will star Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Ana De Armas, Mackenzie Davis and Sylvia Hoeks. Original Blade Runner helmer Ridley Scott is producing and helped with the story, while Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners, Sicario) is taking over directing duties this time around.
The Blade Runner sequel is currently penciled in for an October 6, 2017 release.
