Amy Adams Properly Introduces Herself To The Aliens In The First Full ‘Arrival’ Trailer

Last week, we got our first peek at Arrival, an intriguing new sci-fi film in which Amy Adams plays a linguist named Louise who has to decipher the language of a recently-arrived alien race. Most sci-fi just sort of waves its hand at language, using universal translators and other fancy made up tech to get around it, so a story that really digs into how difficult it would be to communicate with aliens definitely sounds promising.

The first Arrival teaser basically just set up the premise, and then cut off as Louise was about to meet the aliens for the first time. The full trailer continues from there, as our hero takes off her hazmat suit to properly introduce herself to the aliens. Soon enough, it’s discovered the aliens communicate with strange, coffee-stain-like symbols, but do they come in peace, or are they trying to manipulate us? Will Amy Adams’ character end up aiding in the downfall of mankind?

In addition to Adams, Arrival also stars Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker, and Michael Stuhlbarg. The movie was directed by Denis Villeneuve, a guy who seems to get better with each movie he makes (his latest was the acclaimed Sicaro), so this is definitely one to keep your eye on.

Arrival makes first contact on November 11.
