A Flabby CGI Version Of The Rock Sings En Vogue In The Trailer For His New CIA Comedy

This is the trailer for the movie Central Intelligence, starring The Rock and Kevin Hart. (A few years from now, Netflix will have to make an entire category called “… and Kevin Hart.”) It looks almost exactly like you’d expect the trailer for a CIA movie starring The Rock and Kevin Hart would look like. The Rock is a badass thrill-seeking spy. Kevin Hart is a timid accounting-type who gets roped into a mission unwillingly. They are two people who are different sizes. And so on. Kind of like The Other Guys, but with Kevin Hart as Will Ferrell and The Rock as Mark Wahlberg. Kind of.

But I said it looks “almost exactly” like you’d expect, not exactly. And the reason I said that is because the trailer opens with a flashback to The Rock’s character’s high school days. And that flashback features a CGI version of a flabby teenage Rock wearing fake braces and lip-syncing along to “My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It)” by En Vogue. Did you expect to see a CGI version of a flabby teenage Rock wearing fake braces and lip-syncing along to “My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It)” by En Vogue? Like, ever? I did not. I mean, Vin Diesel, maybe. But not The Rock. Life is full of little surprises like that.

Updated to note that The Rock is CGI’d onto a fat body, not wearing a fat suit. This is a fun correction to make.
