Daisy Ridley Is About To Reunite With J.J. Abrams On A Very Non ‘Star Wars’ Role

Daisy Ridley is deep in filming for Star Wars: Episode VIII, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t willing to step out to do another film in the lull between movies. She’s currently in talks to star in another J.J. Abrams production, teaming with director Marielle Heller on an adaptation of the Israeli film, Kol Ma.

According to Variety, the film is quite the departure from the Star Wars universe. It won’t stray too far from the realm of fantasy and sci-fi, though:

The remake of the 2003 Israeli TV movie “Kol Ma” — which translates to English as “All I’ve Got” — centers on a man who died in a car accident 50 years ago who waits on the other side for his former girlfriend who survived. When the woman dies, she’s given the choice of returning to the day of the accident to live again or being reunited with her love.

I feel like if I died and were given that choice, I’d rather return to the day George Lucas decided to make Howard The Duck and set him on a different path. But then we’d all likely turn into fish people because I screwed up and he ended up stepping on a butterfly.

Ridley is a fine choice for any movie at this point, though. It’s good to see that she won’t be disappearing like Natalie Portman, heading off to school. Though it’s better to be more like Natalie Portman and less like Hayden Christensen.
