Dave Bautista is busy doing press for the next James Bond movie Spectre, but if he thought that Marvel geeks were going to let him forget that he also played Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy, he was sorely mistaken. Even if he can’t really say anything, even if he really doesn’t know anything — Dave Bautista is not safe from Marvel-related questioning. Not even Drax could fend off questions about Marvel properties by catching them before they went over his head. No, Bautista is connected to Marvel, and therefore, he must know something.
So, hypothetically, let’s say there was going to be a Guardians of the Galaxy-Avengers crossover. Would you do one, Dave Bautista?
Yeah, come on, man. Hell yeah. Yeah, of course I would. At the core of me is the biggest geek you’ve ever met. I’m a superhero fan first and foremost, and… of course, man, I want that to happen.
That’s awesome! Dave Bautista is totally on board for what would be a really fun conversation between Drax the Destroyer and the Hulk. But seriously, is it going to happen? All those Thanos teases, all those infinity stones, all of this nefarious hint-dangling… What do you know?
It’s rumors right now, but, you know, I pray every day… and night, and afternoon, and after you walk out the door, I’ll go pray and say, “Please let Drax be in ‘The Avengers.’” [Laughter] Yeah, I hope it’ll happen.
“Laughter?” No one over here is laughing, Dave Bautista. We want answers. Of course we don’t want you to be tortured and sent away to Kevin Feige’s “Forgotten Closet,” but that’s it? We’re just going to have to wait?
Yes. We’re going to have to wait. That is how being a Marvel fan works.
