Not sure if you’ve noticed, but folks tend to get a bit touchy about religion. That goes for the percentage of the populace that worships lightsabers and midi-chlorians or whatever too. It’s enough to have the reliable snark generators behind Honest Trailers ditching their usual brand of sarcasm for what’s essentially a gushing love letter to Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back.
This well-timed evaluation of the perpetually gushed over space opera still pokes fun at the subject matter at hand, but maybe our video guide is not being as 100% “honest” about this particularly movie as say Finding Dory. Still, there’s all sorts of friendly observations scattered throughout the proceedings. From Han Solo’s fondness for pointing to that big ol’ “no thank you” pit of incestuous tones, think of this as a cheery roast of Empire‘s foibles than any sort of merciless burial. It’s a dynamic we’ve seen before from the series and it doesn’t hurt the entertainment value.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set to arrive in theaters on December 16. Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back was released in theaters in 1980 and a friend can probably lend you a VHS copy if you ask politely.
