Reliably handsome Academy Award winner George Clooney is reportedly in talks to re-team with the Coen Brothers for his next directing project. In what Deadline Hollywood describes as “a hot package” (feel free to giggle), Clooney is the leading candidate to direct the Coen-written film Suburbicon with the promise that “deals are being made right now.”
Details on the content of the film are in short supply, but the main thrust of it is that Suburbicon is a 1950s-set small crime drama with a Blood Simple-y noir sheen. Joel Silver will produce the project which would serve as Clooney’s first directing effort since the lukewarmly received The Monuments Men.
As your loudest Film 100 classmate can tell you, this is far from the first time Clooney’s teamed with Joel and Ethan Coen for a project. O Brother, Where Art Thou? and Intolerable Cruelty were both Coen Brothers pictures that featured Clooney in the marquee role. Clooney’s also set to star in their new film Hail, Caesar! which appears to have roughly 86 percent of all famous movie stars on Earth in it. Oh, also Channing Tatum is done up as a sexy dancing sailor man in it, which is something that everyone can enjoy.
