The Original ‘Ghostbusters’ Will Reemerge On The Big Screen This Summer

Before the world is officially introduced to the 2016 interpretation of Ghostbusters, the big screen will once again play host to the original. TAKE THAT, ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY! YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN ON TOP FOR TOO LONG!

Variety reports that the 1984 flavor of Ghostbusters will be returning to theaters for a limited engagement. Fathom Events will be re-releasing the Ivan Reitman directed sci-fi comedy classic in 750 theaters. Syncing up with its original 1984 release date, this big Proton Pack courting event will go down on June 8 of this year. A follow-up is also in the cards for June 12. This sizable return to cinemas comes one month before the release date of the female-powered reboot set for July 16.

Fathom Events obviously aren’t the only company that’ll mark the arrival of a new Ghostbusters movie with a nod to its predecessor. For example, BBQ Films is planning their own Ghostbusters throwback nights in Williamsburg from June 8-10. Packages up for purchase include perks like “Hands-on training with ghostbustin’ gear” and “complimentary adult ecto-beverages.”
