Aside from the iconic orange bikini, Halle Berry‘s outing as a Bond Girl isn’t exactly fondly remembered. Die Another Day was one of the weaker outings for Pierce Brosnan’s Bond, and, as is so often the case for Bond’s women, Berry’s NSA agent, Jinx, was woefully underwritten. Well, Berry’s getting a second shot at the spy business, this time in Kingsman 2.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Berry will be appearing as the head of the CIA in Kingsman 2, and will be signing a two-picture deal, as Fox is looking to turn it into a Bond-like franchise. Matthew Vaughan will be returning as director, with star Taron Egerton reprising his role as Eggsy. Sadly, the next installment will be devoid of the considerable charms of Colin Firth and Samuel L. Jackson, because apparently characters stay dead in this film universe.
However, between Berry and Julianne Moore signing on as the villain, Kingsman 2 is shaping up to be less of a boys’ club than the first film. Kingsman: The Secret Service was a surprise hit for Fox, raking in over $400 million at the box office and garnering mostly positive reviews. Here’s hoping its sequel follows in that tradition when it opens May 13, 2017.
