Oscar Isaac, all-around cool dude and soon-to-be X-Wing pilot Poe Dameron in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Apocalypse in X-Men: Apocalypse, told Star Wars stories on last night’s Late Night with Seth Meyers. Isaac comes from a family of huge Star Wars fans, so much so that they attended the prequels while cosplaying.
“Every new movie, we’d dress up like characters. These are grown-ass people doing this,” Isaac says. He wanted an easy costume, so he went as a gonk droid. Hey, somebody’s gotta be the gonk droid. As Isaac says, “You can’t have five Darth Mauls.”
The best part of the whole interview, however, is when Isaac talks about working with Harrison Ford. I could listen to anecdotes about Harrison Ford all damn day. Since Ford is a pilot, and Isaac is playing a pilot, he asked Ford if there was any advice he could give about playing a pilot. Ford’s advice was pure Ford: “It’s fake… and it’s in space, so none of that applies, really.”
Isaac also talked about reading X-Men comics as a kid, but honestly, nothing’s going to top the mental image of someone asking Harrison Ford for acting advice and him shrugging and grumbling that it’s all fake anyway, kid.
