Marvel’s Captain America TV spin-off Agent Carter proved to be successful for the comic book media juggernaut both on the small screen and behind the scenes. Hayley Atwell’s fan-favorite character Peggy Carter got her own show, as well as numerous cameos throughout the Phase Two films. But many questions remain, including whether or not the show will get a second season.
When Atwell took the stage at Emerald City Comicon on Friday, fans inundated her with this and other questions. Here are some of the highlights:
On what she’d like to see in a second season of Agent Carter, if it happened:
“I would like one of two things — I’d really like to explore her background of where she’s come from, what her family was like, what created this exceptionally strong and unique woman, and who it was in her life that told her she could be just as good — or better — as the guys,” Atwell answered. “Secondly, I’d like to go a few years in the future, to see how she tackles being a mother and a wife, as well as being kick-ass in the office.” (Via)
On what she’d like to see in an Agent Carter movie, which — if it ever happened — Atwell is 100 percent down for:
“I’d like to see her vulnerability. I think sometimes we can depict woman as strong like it’s a new thing — we’ve always been strong, that’s ridiculous. But I’d like to see her vulnerability. No matter how hard life gets, we can only be strong for so long, before we grab the ice cream and cry into the television. I’d like to see that. The charm of Peggy is that she doesn’t have any superpowers. I’d like to see her everyday life back at home, the loneliness, the cost of what it means to be living this life. I think that’s real.” (Via)
What a young Peggy would think about the modern world:
“I think she’d be relieved that the world had caught up with her,” Atwell answered. “She’s a woman who was ahead of her time. I think she’d fit now. She’d probably be running the country.” (Via)
On the Winter Soldier possibly being involved in Agent Carter‘s second season, or any subsequent seasons:
“That would be great,” Atwell said. “The exciting thing is, we can have so many crossovers with different worlds in the Marvel Universe.” (Via)
What it’s like to kiss Chris Evans, which we already know is probably amazing:
“He’s got very soft lips. He smells really good. He’s very hygienic.” (Via)
Finally, a up-to-date fan asked Atwell about her involvement in this summer’s Ant-Man:
“She crosses over, but it’s more of a cameo,” Atwell answered. “It’s not a flashback — well, it is, but not to the point where it’s 1946.” (Via)
So, it is a flashback, or it isn’t? We know the film involves Hank Pym’s (Michael Douglas) younger days in the ’60s, so Atwell probably just wanted to clarify that she wasn’t playing an Agent Carter-era Peggy. That, or she noticed a Marvel executive in the back.
