“From the studio who’s casually redefined the word trilogy comes The Hunger Games like you’ve never seen them before: Hunger Game-less.” Open the newest Honest Trailer from Screen Junkies, and it’s an apt description of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, although it’s not nearly as biting as the quote which followed: “If you thought half of a short book wasn’t enough to carry a two hour movie, you were right.”
Most of the criticism seems fair, though. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 had a whole lot of filler, Katniss showing a sudden interest in Peeta when she didn’t give much of a sh*t about him before, and an excellent supporting cast that was underutilized. On the other hand, we also got “Woody Harrelson as himself,” Natalie Dormer making us wonder if we’d bang Skrillex, and SO MANY EMOTIONS.
