Terminator Genisys came out on Blu-ray yesterday, so Screen Junkies celebrated with a brutally honest trailer about this “prequel-sequel-reboot-spelling error.”
They really didn’t hold back anything in their assessment of the fifth Terminator movie, from calling Jai Courtney “a homeless man’s Channing Tatum,” to renaming it Genishyt, to pointing out they gave way too much exposition to the guy with the thickest accent, to knocking the PG-13 rating and criminal underutilization of J.K. Simmons. Shots are fired right out of the gate when they give a spoiler warning for this trailer while pointing out the official trailers already spoiled everything anyway.
Terminator Genisys still turned a profit overseas — grossing more than $350 million internationally compared to a disappointing $90 million run in the U.S. — so expect some sequels. Which raises the question, what could they possibly do to make the plot of the sixth Terminator movie even more convoluted than Genisys?
Terminator Gestation, in theaters hopefully never.
