Matt Damon became an action superstar with a trilogy of Jason Bourne films, starting with The Bourne Identity in 2002. Damon reprised the role for two more films — The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum — ending his run as the talented tactical specialist in 2007. A fourth Bourne film, The Bourne Legacy with Jeremy Renner in the hero role, failed to capture audiences the same way Damon’s trifecta did.
‘Tis time to return to the cinematic ball with the dance partners that got you there.
Ten years after Damon last pulled on the Bourne pants he’s once again teaming with director Paul Greengrass. The duo is looking to reclaim the magic of the original trilogy with Jason Bourne, the fifth film in the series based on the books by Robert Ludlum.
The story so far: Jason Bourne was engineered into a super soldier, but, upon learning of his past, he went toe-to-toe with the intelligence officials that helped create him. There’s no word about the plot on this fifth film in the series, but rumors say that cyber warfare will play a large part in the narrative. Oh, and in case you thought Damon might be growing too old for these action vehicles, check out his body of work in the trailer: Dude is jacked!
Jason Bourne is scheduled for release this July.
