Jerry O’Connell stopped by the Allegedly podcast with Theo Von and Matthew Cole Weiss Tuesday, where he finally opened up about his infamous 2008 Funny or Die sketch, in which O’Connell spoofed that insane leaked Tom Cruise Scientology video. When asked whether he’s run into Cruise in the nearly eight years since the video was put out, his answer was yes and no, in a nutshell.

I saw him at one event, and I hid. I had to be at the event. I hid for as long as I could, and then when it was time to disperse, I literally was like the first at valet. So, I’m just sort of avoiding, like any sort of… I don’t think there will be confrontation, but it’s just, why poke that bear? I mean it was fun… but it was rude, what I did.

For what it’s worth he’d probably be fine, although the intimidation factor is certainly understandable. Tom Cruise is too much of a professional to ever let anything visibly get to him, even if he really was bubbling under the surface.

O’Connell went on to say that he’s associated with and even partied with Scientologists in the past, and once narrowly avoided being lured into the Celebrity Centre in Hollywood after a night of boozing. He doesn’t go so far as disparage the organization, but decidedly says that it is not for him.

You can listen to the entire interview below; the topic of Tom Cruise comes up just around the 5:40 mark.
