Julie Andrews was on hand at the Oscars last night to commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Sound of Music (and to make Lady Gaga transform into a blubbering mess after her musical medley). The actress surprised everyone with her appearance at the awards show but what isn’t shocking is the level of sass Andrews can still serve up in red carpet interviews despite her 79 years of age.
On Live! With Kelly and Michael‘s annual after-Oscar special, host Kelly Ripa pulled Andrews into her Red Room of Pain inspired interview booth to question the star on her knowledge of all things Fifty Shades of Grey. Unfortunately Dame Andrews hasn’t had an opportunity to check out the soft-core bondage porn movie yet, but it’s probably safe to predict that when she does see what Jamie Dornan can do with a flogger, she’ll like it.
Ripa joked with Andrews about the resemblance her interview area bore to Mr. Grey’s on-screen playroom:
This is Gelman’s tribute to that movie. This is the Red Room. We made a Red Room back here…We’re not gonna spank anybody here.
To which Andrews saucily replied:
Oh, well. I’d like it if you would.
