A gloriously mustachioed Kurt Russell showed up on Jimmy Kimmel Live Tuesday night to promote his role as the bad guy in Furious 7, but when you got a stache that crazy, the conversation tends to gravitate towards it. That led things to the movie Russell is currently filming with Quentin Tarantino, The Hateful Eight. Here’s how Russell described the set:
“He’s a king pirate. It’s like going to work every day on a pirate ship. And you’re sailing, the sails are full, the seas are rough and you just charge forward and do battle with somebody. It’s just a blast. He’s literally one of a kind. He knows everything everybody has ever done. But it’s not just the knowledge of what he knows, it’s the day – the day itself.”
“There’s a lot of music on the set, the whole crew is hand picked and they love each other. The cast we’re working with is just tremendous. Sam Jackson. I’m chained to Jennifer Jason Leigh for almost the entire movie. Jimmy Parks is driving the stage coach and then we’ve got Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, a lot of the gang and some new blood. It’s a blast.”
No doubt. The lineup Tarantino has put together almost rivals The Big Short, the raging erection of an ensemble film starring Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt and Steven Carell. Meanwhile, The Hateful Eight has Channing Tatum, Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tim Roth, and Michael Madsen.
The Big Short still wins on A-list star power, but I know which cast I’d rather spend the night drinking with.
