A new poster is one thing, but when it comes to superhero movies, all comic book fans really care about is footage — lots and lots of new footage. Maybe that’s why the latest TV spot for Marvel’s Ant-Man provides just that. Kind of.
Most of what the latest commercial offers has already been seen in previously released TV spots and cinematic trailers, but there’s something a little familiar about one particular sequence above. Yes, I’m talking about the hallway fight sequence between Ant-Man and the two armed guards in suits. It looks an awful lot like the proof-of-concept footage ex-Ant-Man writer and director Edgar Wright put together for San Diego Comic Con back in 2012.
This isn’t too surprising. Wright probably based the footage on a scene from his script, and as co-writer Adam McKay said back in October, a lot of what Wright and Joe Cornish did for the script was still in the finished product.
